Joker: Yurusarezaru Sousakan Review

Inspector Date Kazuyoshi (Sakai Masato) is a mild-mannered, soft detective of Kanagawa Prefecture’s First Investigative Division During the day, he is known as a “Buddha” for his gentle personality, pouring all of his energy into resolving each case. But at night, he transforms into a ruthles punisher as his gentleness gives way to his anger towards the criminals. He is teamed up with Miyashiro Asuka (Anne), a rookie detective who is the daughter of his good friend, Miyashiro Natsuki, who joined the police force in the same year. The series is said to pose questions about what justice and evil truly are.

Review

This storyline reminded me of the comic book by Marvel Comics called “Punisher” or the movie “Punisher” , really the same thing except the movie is not as good as the comics anyway the same concept in the movie applies. Frank  Castle punishes these criminals of course other then that its not really the same.  In the drama the detective punishes the criminals.

I love how all these Japanese drama try to teach you a lesson, its like its not just entertainment its also something to think about. Loves it! The storyline of this drama really attracted me, it had a very superhero quality to it. I love how the main character, the detective, Date, has two faces. One that he shows everyone and another that only comes out when its dark. Trust me his change is scary especially when he becomes the punisher, its like his cold hearted and ruthless.

The other two main characters, Miyashiro Asuka and Kuon Kenji are people who have more depths to their characters. Miyashiro Asuka is not just a pretty face but she is intelligent and Kuon Kenji is not a playboy but someone with extream passion and is very good at his job. The motto of this drama I believe is “Everyone is not what they seem”

The crime scene was shown in great detail ,slowly at first, it is not shown so brutally but as the criminal confesses you see each detail and you feel anger and sadness as they describe exactly what happened to the victims in such brutal honesty, they show the pain the victim went through and the family’s pain, and its sad to watch. This is not your typical detective drama, it has more intensity and more depth.

This drama is about criminals getting away and how even the police force cant charge them. Its a pretty serious drama with bit of comedy. Pretty enjoyable and the first episode was an excellent start to this drama. I would really recommend watching this drama so far.
