LADY Saigo no Hanzai Profile Review

“LADY” focuses on a team of profilers in the CPS, a fictional police division that deals with analyzing criminal behavior. Kitagawa plays the part of Shoko, a gifted profiler who returns to Japan after working with the FBI in the United States. Her character is described as a “crime maniac,” as she is overly knowledgeable about past crimes, while also being unskilled in matters of romance. –Tokyograph

Review

This is another detective drama where they use profiling to figure out the criminals. It aired at the same time with another detective style drama “Control”. If there was a choice between Control and Lady I would recommend Lady.

My reason for this is because Lady has better stories then Control. Episodes include bodies that are drained of blood, kidnapping and serial killers. There was more depth and stories that really pull you in so much that you cannot take your eyes of the screen. It’s fascinating, mysterious and emotional at the same time. I really enjoyed the conclusions of each episode. The stories are really unpredictable even though you see the criminal and you know how they look you get to know why they did so and so crime, their reasons are something that you never expected.

At times you really feel sorry for them and you don’t expect yourself to feel sorry for someone who has killed so many people. It shows that humans are quite weak and we take actions depending on our emotions and sometimes we end up doing something we would never do if we really thought with a clear conscious.  The criminals in the drama end up being those people who are troubled or crazy and certain events triggered their actions. This drama just shows that as human’s events in our life really make us who we are and that we can easily be broken.

Even though I really enjoyed it I know it was not a perfect drama. There were some weaknesses. Firstly the main character Kazuki just seemed to figure out the mystery and you never really know how she got there. All of a sudden she will just imagine herself as the criminal and retrace their steps and you just sit thinking.. “Okay how did she just get there?!” It does not spoil the drama but I wish they would show us more of the process of how she got there. Maybe more evidence or something could have been shown so we could see what helped her figure out the character of the criminals.

Also I wish there was more of depth in each character and their relationships. You see maybe three background stories but when you watch a Crime drama you really want to see that connection with each member and more interaction. I don’t know if there was a weak chemistry with them but sometimes it did seem that way. That saying I really love all the actors they had on this show!

Look at the character below. You have Kitagawa Keiko who acted in so many good drama and she is such a pretty girl. I really enjoyed watching her act as well.  Then you have the other characters who themselves are very well accomplished. I really like all of them. They did act really well on their own but it was only when they were together that there was this bit of awkwardness.

I have to warn before you try this drama that some people may not be able to get through the first episodes. I also hoped there was a bit more romance but alas. I think the first episode was a bit slow but I do think you should try to keep watching it because the episodes get a bit better. . Maybe at the end it became a bit weak again but Some of the stories were just really amazing Mainly episode 3, 4, 5 and 6. It kind of made me want to be a profiler. xD

I do think there are many other detectives you should watch before you try this one for example Galileo but don’t skip this one out if you are looking for something to watch.

  1. I actually think LADY is a better show than Galileo. There’s far more character development in LADY, the stories are better, and the three main characters have an overarching main storyline. Where as in Galileo, it’s purely episodic. While the way they solve the crimes through the Scientific Method is interesting, there just aren’t many compelling stories in Galileo that have the same depth of the stories in LADY.

  2. I agree that the stories in Lady were really good, very emotional. :)
