Picture of the day – Bento Box


A bento box is a home packed traditional Japanese lunch box. They usually contain rice, fish, meat or pickle. Bento boxes can be readily available at restaurants and convenience shops but Japanese households still make their own carefully and produce a carefully crafted lunch box.

Bento is originated from the word biàndāng which means convenient. The bento box is traced all the way to the Kamakura Period. In the Azuchi-Momoyama Period they also used wooden lacquered boxes much like today.You can find out more information from the website below. Ive always wanted to make a Bento for myself but Ive never found super cute looking Bento boxes :(
